Our founders have experience in starting new organizations and new processes that provide funds to New Jersey nonprofits. SparkNJ has gathered a group of like-minded donors who wish to provide funds to community-based organizations whose leaders identify as Black. The donors believe in a trust-based process that does not require an application or extensive financial accounting for a grant. By depending on nominations instead of applications from nonprofit organizations, we hope to relieve a burden from small nonprofits that need grants to assist with their general operating funds but do not have development staff to assist in that work.

 

SparkNJ expects that recipient organizations are already providing services in a local community and will use the unrestricted SparkNJ funds to enhance their mission and grow their operations. SparkNJ depends on our nominators to attest to the efficiency, quality, and potential of the organization's operations.
