SparkNJ is a nonprofit organization that was founded with a mission to address this inequity by providing unrestricted grants to Black-led nonprofits in New Jersey.

We are celebrating our fifth anniversary by awarding $150,000 in grants to 11 nonprofit organizations whose work often reaches beyond one county to serve wide communities. Check back soon for photos of these amazing nonprofit leaders at our Celebration Event.
Our Work
SparkNJ provides financial support to 501(c)3 organizations that are already fulfilling their mission, but are in need of additional operating funds to continue and grow their work. Following a trust-based philanthropy model, SparkNJ depends on Nominators, individuals rooted in and knowledgeable about local communities, to identify potential grant recipients.
Organizations can fill a wide variety of the community's needs – from family support, health care, workforce training, and education to theater and the arts.
Our all-volunteer organization awards 100% of donations to our grantees. We operate independently, but under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of New Jersey.
